Given the Fort Lauderdale area’s rich culture and diversity, many individuals spend hundreds of hours a year volunteering and participating in local charity events. With a plethora of venues for such events in the area, and the infinite number of causes to support, there are always ways to get involved in South Florida, often while having the time of your life!

The Bus Loop Charities in Fort Lauderdale is geared toward the demographic of 21-36 year old young professionals in Fort Lauderdale and surrounding cities. The events include minimal donation amounts (usually not to exceed $25 per person, per event) and the money supports a number of charities, including:
Bus Loop events are held 5 times per year and always feature 10 different restaurants, bars or night clubs on each event. With your wrist band, you get complimentary charter bus or Sun Trolley transportation through the “Bus Loop” and each restaurant, bar or night club offers participants a free drink, food item, or discount. Some featured bars and restaurants in the past include Blue Martini Lounge, B Ocean Resort on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Duffy’s Sports Bar & Grill, Tokyo Blue, and 33rd Street Wine Bar, to name a few.
These events are great for social and professional networking for the 21-36 year old demographic, so plan to bring a number of business cards. It is also a great way to celebrate a birthday, bachelorette party or special event all while giving back to the community. Autism Speaks hosts a number of Charity events in South Florida throughout the year. On Saturday, August 6, 2011, the most glamourous of such events will be held at America’s Backyard in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. The event, titled “The Ultimate Ladies Night” is said to feature 2 hours of complimentary open bar from 8 pm – 10 pm, a complementary makeover by Rachel Boyd of Motives by Loren Ridinger, a $20 Gift Certificate for America’s Backyard, a complementary raffle ticket, and a number of local boutique vendors. Miami Dolphin’s Special Teams is a community volunteer effort that offers volunteer-incentives to active participants in the area.
“The Miami Dolphins Special Teams is a unique volunteer organization created to enlist and mobilize the ongoing services of the community with the Miami Dolphins staff, players and alumni. The mission of the Special Teams is to offer hands-on services to communities and families in need, to partner with existing organizations on worthwhile social, civic and charitable programs, to provide assistance at Miami Dolphins Foundation events, and to support community efforts in times of emergency (courtesy: www.miamidolphins.com).”
Through volunteerism with Miami Dolphin’s Special Teams, volunteers can earn complimentary seats to home games as well as discounts on season tickets, Miami Dolphin’s Team Gear, Autographed Footballs, and other, undisclosed prizes. Miami Dolphin’s Special Teams participates in over 700 events annually, featuring charity and fundraising events even for the most distinguished of volunteers.
