Labor Day Weekend Events in South Florida

Honor Labor in Ft Lauderdale

Labor Day will be upon us within the next week, and accompanying the long holiday weekend are some awesome South Florida events. I have done extensive research and created a list of events that can appeal to a wide variety of interests.

Baseball Fans and the Family Will Love:

Wyclef Jean will be performing at Marlins Super Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Sun Life Stadium in a game against the Philadelphia Phillies. This Saturday evening game will prove to be fun for the whole family, especially with tickets ranging from $15.00 – $130.00 allowing this event to fit into anyone’s budget. You can find tickets here.

Party Animals and Under 30 Crowd Will Love:

Thanks to  the Rainbow Business Coalition, 2 air-conditioned coach busses will be available all weekend long to chauffeur patrons through a loop of 14 of the most popular area bars. Certain participating bars will be offering $6 RBC drink specials with your refillable RBC cup. Some of the participating bars include:

  • Georgie’s Alibi
  • Bill’s Filling Station
  • Torpedo
  • Shannon & Anthony’s Corner Pub
  • Cubby Hole
  • Humpy’s Pizza
  • Depot
  • Scandal’s Saloon
  • Johnny’s

This event focuses on abolishing DUI’s and drunk driving accidents on the road during the holiday weekend.

Couples and Easy-Goers Will Love:

How about strolling through an open-air outdoor market on Las Olas Boulevard? Here you can find fresh produce, beautiful flower arrangements, fresh treats and goodies. This event will be held Sunday, September 04, 2011 from 9 am – 2 pm. The admission is free and the event is sponsored by The Las Olas Association. The vendors will set up outside and around the Las Olas Chemist (ELO at SE 12 Ave).

Long-Weekend-Vacationers Will Love:

If you are looking to get out of South Florida for the long weekend? Head on down to Key West for their annual Brewfest. Occurring September 1-5, 2011, Brewfest is an excellent reason to head to Key West.  The five-day long festival features events from morning until evening all focused around beer tasting, beer pairings, and best of all –beer drinking. Many of the events will be used to raise money for local charities, and all event tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day of the event. Over 50 of the most well-known microbrews are sponsoring the event, so it is sure to be a desirable experience for all attendees ages 21 and up.

Girls and the Family Will Love:

Head out to Davie, FL to check out the Flamingo Gardens Bird Festival Arts and Crafts Sale. Happening on Monday, September 5, 2011, The Labor Day Craft Show featuring jewelry, arts & crafts, antiques, collectibles and gifts will be heald in the courtyard of Flamingo Gardens and be free to the public.

More events are happening all over South Florida on a daily basis and throughout the Labor Day weekend. Events in the area focus on every one’s interests making South Florida an ideal place to live for its diverse group of residents!
